Wednesday, September 5: Presentation on Dr. Edith Irby Jones
Join us September 5th for a presentation in the UAMS Library on the first floor from 11:30 am to 1 pm commemorating Dr. Edith Irby Jones’s entrance into medical school. Dr. Jones was the first African American medical student in the south. We will also have a special exhibit on Dr. Jones in our 5th floor Historical Research Center. The HRC is proud to house Dr. Jones’s papers.
The presentation will be by Erick Messias, M.D., MPH, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. This event is the first of three events celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Edith Irby Jones.
Lunch will be served beginning at 11:30 with the presentation beginning at noon.
