Emergency Access to Library Printed MaterialsThe Faculty and Staff of the Library recognize the potential need for certain Campus personnel to have access to the Library's collections 24 hours a day. To facilitate that need we have instituted the following policy. General PolicyThe Library provides 24 hour access to library materials to UAMS faculty, housestaff and residents to ensure high quality patient care. This service is not available to students. Persons Eligible for Emergency Access to the LibraryUAMS faculty, house staff, and residents may gain access to the UAMS Library after-hours. This privilege is also extended to persons from the Poison Control Center and the UAMS Emergency Room. With proper identification (UAMS ID badge), UAMS Police will open the Library and log the name and time the individual entering the Library. After materials are retrieved and checked out or photocopied, the EXIT door at the Circulation Desk is available. Checking Materials Out After-hoursBooks may be checked out by completing the check-out sheet provided in the Emergency Check-Out tray on the Circulation Desk by the Security Gate. Journals do NOT check out, but a print card is provided in the tray for use in the Library photocopiers. Remote Access to Databases, eJournals, and eBooksMany databases can be accessed through the Library's homepage anywhere on campus, or from the Computer Lab on the 8th floor of Education Building 2. The lab is open 24 hours a day. Adopted August 1998. Revised December 2010.
